The Tim Emery Bursary

One of the key messages delivered to delegates at the 2024 Young Beef Producers’ Forum (YBPF) in Roma was that engaging in conversation, and learning from those who have navigated the industry before them, is crucial. As a result, and to mark the forum’s 20th anniversary of providing the ultimate professional development event for young people in the beef industry, the Future Farmers Network & the 2024 YBPF Committee chose to acknowledge the invaluable impact Tim Emery has had shaping the careers of so many young aggies in the Australian beef industry through the networks and professional development provided by the forum.

For 14-years, Tim has dedicated countless hours to every aspect of the forum as a Director of FFN, and as a long-term YBPF Committee member. Whilst formally retiring from the YBPF Committee in 2022, Tim remains a passionate supporter of the event, its committee, sponsors, and importantly its delegates in so many ways. Tim has given – and continues to give – his time willingly, and selflessly, to ensure that every young person in the beef industry – regardless of their level of experience – feels welcomed, actively included, and supported at YBPF.

In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to date, and to ensure that his knowledge and passion for young people in the Australian beef industry is celebrated, it was the distinct honour of FFN Chair Caitlin McConnel to announce that in celebration of 20-years of YBPF, the FFN Board & 2024 YBPF Committee, were establishing The Tim Emery Bursary.

Through a dedicated application process opening at the beginning of each calendar year, and in consultation with Tim, this bursary opportunity will enable a successful applicant – from anywhere in Australia – the opportunity to attend YBPF, with expenses including the ticket, travel, and accommodation costs covered by FFN & YBPF.

You can read more about the announcement via the Queensland Country Life, Beef Central, or watch interview with Tim following the announcement at YBPF via AuctionsPlus.
