One of the key messages delivered to delegates at the 2024 Young Beef Producers’ Forum (YBPF) in Roma was the importance of engaging in conversation and learning from those who have navigated the industry before them. To mark the forum’s 20th anniversary, the Future Farmers Network (FFN) and the 2024 YBPF Committee proudly announced the establishment of the Tim Emery Bursary, honouring one of the event’s most dedicated contributors.
For more than 14 years, Tim Emery has dedicated countless hours to YBPF in his roles as a Director of FFN and as a long-term YBPF Committee member. While formally retiring from the committee in 2022, Tim has remained a passionate supporter of the forum, its sponsors, and most importantly, its delegates. His tireless efforts have ensured that every young person in the beef industry, regardless of their level of experience, feels welcomed, included, and supported at YBPF.
The Tim Emery Bursary will provide one young person from anywhere in Australia the opportunity to attend YBPF with all major expenses covered. The bursary will cover registration, travel, and accommodation costs, ensuring the recipient can benefit fully from the professional development and networking opportunities the forum provides.
This bursary will ensure that Tim’s legacy of knowledge-sharing, inclusion and passion for the beef industry is carried forward, giving more young people the chance to connect, learn, and grow within the industry.
Applications for the inaugural bursary open 19th September 2025.
How to apply:
- Make sure you’re a current FFN member (open to members only).
- Log in to the membership portal on the FFN website.
- Head to the Member Area and complete a Bursary Application form, noting it’s for the Tim Emery Bursary. (NOTE: Please record and include a link to a 1-minute video introducing yourself and telling us why you’d like to be the recipient of the Tim Emery Bursary.)
Applications close at midnight on Sunday, 5th October 2025, with the recipient to be announced soon thereafter.
